Re: Need Buying Help
Either the Dell e1720 or the HP dv9500t sound like good options for you. Both can be configured for under $1000. Those are two that I looked at. It seems I can get a better price on the Dell. Is there much difference between two quality wise? Should I stick with the AMD over the Intel processor and if so, how much do I sacrifice if any going with the AMD? What about the video card and suggestions?

Re: Need Buying Help
I'll second both the Dell 1720 and the HP dv9500t - great machines for the money. You may be better off going to local stores for the HP because sometimes you can get killer deals after rebates.
Another machine to look at is the Acer Aspire 9300.
Edit: If you're not gaming, the video card doesn't matter.
-I've never played with the Dell so I can't compare the two but the HP dv9500t has great quality. You can see both in person - Dells at Dell kiosks, and HPs at Best Buy and other stores.
-You could go with the AMD version and not notice any difference in performance. For the things you are doing any dual-core CPU is fine.
