Re: Looking for moderate Gaming/for school
Since it will mostly be at home, consider the Asus C90s w/8600m GT
Other with the 8600m GS(less powerful then the GT) are the Asus S96s, Asus F3sv series (X1/B/A).
BTW here a article that might help you parents out.
What is behind the name of a laptop? (The industries hidden secret) -talks about manuafurers(ODMs like Compal) and their relationship to OEM like Sager/HP/Dell/other big boys.

Kuwait, dude I got two words for you. Alghanim, Eureka! Test out the laptops there and you might find something you like. If Asus is what you really want then I recommend a shop in Hawalli in the complex opposite Walla, the name of the shop is Personal Computer. I think there the only place that have Asus, maybe virgin megastore.

Re: Looking for moderate Gaming/for school
Dells are a bit over priced in the middle east. Im in dubai and Ive always found them to be that way. HP on the other hand seem to be similarly priced. I got my dv9000t here in dubai for about $100-200 less than what it was worth in the US 6 months ago. The Asus C90 has the best option for you so far with the 8600m GT being the best you can get.
Problem with Asus though is that they are not as widely available here as I would have wished, so finding Asus products especially newer ones isn't very easy and they always seem more expensive too. I havent been out to see laptops in a while, I might head over to the deira city centre and check the stores there to see what's new. I dunno about prices in Kuwait but here in dubai there might be some summer specials comin up.
