what should I buy (HELP PLEASE)

Question:
what should I buy (HELP PLEASE)
Ok this is what I need my computer for and stuff in it:
1- A graphics card that will play Counterstrike and Possibly CS:S on fairly high graphics. Keep in mind that I am coming from a 9800pro desktop card.
2- 80-100GB HD
3- Preferably some small so that I can use it in lectures at university. Weight isn't and issue but size is. I don't really know if a 17" notebook will be too big(opinons).
4- I have to buy it in Canada.
5- $2000 CAD or less. ($1660 USD)
I am pondering these ones:
Dell 9300
Compaq v2000
Acer 4402
Acer Ferrari 4002
Asus z71v
Toshiba m40-SF3
Any notebooks you would suggest that I have not mentioned?
Thanks A_A

I am pondering these ones:
Dell 9300
Compaq v2000
Acer 4402
Acer Ferrari 4002
Asus z71v
Toshiba m40-SF3 Forget the Acer Ferrari - it's past your budget.
Also dismiss the Compaq v2000 - that graphics card has shared memory and you won't be able to play any 3D game very well.
The Dell is the best choice for gaming - get that if you want a 17".
If you think 17 is too big, go for the Asus, that has the next-best gaming performance.
BTW, I have a desktop 256MB DDR 9800XT, went to my laptop 64MB X700, and there's not a huge decrease. The 9800 is a lot smoother, and I can enable AA and AF on it, but the Mobility X700 still allows me to put everything on the highest setting with the exception of AA and AF - I leave those at defaults. However, if I overclock the card by 30MHz core/ 20MHz memory, I can get a nice boost that allow me to enable AF, up to 16X on some maps.
Happy buying

Well, based on your needs, I would consider going with the Toshiba M-40, because it has a nice graphics card for the price. Additionally, the Toshiba's smaller form factor allows you to be "more" mobile. However, if you can strech your budget to about $1800-1900 USD, then I suggest getting the Dell Inspirion 9300 with the Nvidia 6800 Go. However, the Dell is fairly large and can encumber you if you travel with your laptop. Also, take a look at the HP zv6000 series. Since it has an AMD Athlon 64 Processor, it'll be ready for the next generation of 64-bit software, and will allow you to upgrade to Windows Vista when it hits the shelves next year. Plus, the HP offers great value for the amount of money; you'll be able to get a fully tricked out zv6000 for about $1500 USD.
Happy Buying,

The 4002 will be under $2000, the Ferrari 4005 is the one thats over.
I'd second the ASUS

I third the Asus. I plan on getting one in the next month or two. I was going to get the i9300, but after extensive reading of multiple reviews and this forum, I came to the conclusion that there are way to many possible problems with that model. I was able to find it (w/o shipping) for $1280 at JCNS. Only difference is that I plan on sticking 100GB hd in it myself later on. :asus:

Yeah I would pick the I9300 too.. but the **** Screen is concerning me. Iīve read a couple people saying that returned their notes because the screen quality is not acceptable. Again I donīt know how bad this is...
My other pick would be a ZV6000 series but it is too weak for you.
Why donīt you try the HP ZD8000 series ?

The ASUS W3v retails for $2200+ here, then with tax, $2550 or so, way over the budget.
