I would like a system that does not Heat up too much (problematic with sony's from what i have heard) I will be using the laptop on my lap, don't want cooked thighs.
ATM my main choices are
Sony FS, Sony S series, or Asus Z70va, Asus W3V, Asus Z63A.
Sony is mainly for their screens, which i have been able to see at the store, Any input on the Asus screens would be very useful.
My top choices is definately the :asus: W3V(for the 128m graphics card, and the metal finish :D) and Z70VA since i can customize this beast to my own wants. The Z63A's only problem i have is that the graphics may be fairly weak, but can also be fine tuned otherwise for what i want.
My biggest hurdle to overcome is weather a 15" would be really practicle to take to school, since i am always commuting there and may use it on the bus.

With your budget, I would get the Asus z70va, hands down.
I use my 15.4" widescreen dv4000 in school, and I find carrying it to and from is not a problem. A decent bag helps!

Re: Hard to make a decision, so turning to the experts :)
A 15.4" will be too large to use on a bus, the W3v will be much easier.
I'm giving the W3v a kick!

I guess it depends on whether you let people sit next to you on the bus... ;)

Not that but for a good posture, you need the laptop resting on your kneecaps, as too far in, Guys - your little 'buddies' are burning.
The W3v is smaller, so you won't need to 'curl' up as much.
But this is on the bus - not a backbreaking factor here

if the Z70VA > W3V then i just won't use it on the bus as much, i dont' think it is a huge issue if i don't use it on the bus, but it would be nice to be able to

what kind of bus is this
Answer:
Re: Hard to make a decision, so turning to the experts :)
crappy old TTC, or public transit normal type bus. not the nicer ones, so even suggesting not to use my laptop on the bus is ok too

Re: Hard to make a decision, so turning to the experts :)
Ahhhh, TTC :D
The VIVA ones are nice heh, they even have tables inside!!
Besides the size difference, The Z70va is a better choice, but if size is a factor, W3v!!

Re: Hard to make a decision, so turning to the experts :)
I guess it would be smarter not to use a laptop on the bus anyhow, and the Z70VA seems to have a much bigger bang for the buck. I will be going to the nearest Asus dealer and seeing if they can display the 2 models side by side for me, but i think if i cut out the factor that i just WANT to be watch a movie on a boring commute a bigger computer woudl be better.
