Question:
Copyright protection error when playing DVDs on A8JP?
Anyone else get this error and/or have a fix? I've tried through WMP and Media Center with the same problem, and with 3 different DVDs.

That's definetly a cool tool--thanks. But it'd be a pain to have to rip every DVD I want to watch (i.e. from NetFlix). I'm more concerned as to why I can't play a DVD... especially since this laptop comes with MCE.

The ripping process takes less than 15 minutes.
What kind of DVDs do you have? Are they already copies of copies?
No, just store-bought and NetFLIX rentals. I will look into AnyDVD, thanks.
BTW, FFVII rocked. Kind of sick of it now, though.. played it too much.

Have you tried any other DVD players such as WinDVD or such? Have you tried to uninstall WMP and reinstall it? It seems like an unusual error if you are only trying to play the DVD.

Get the latest ATI drivers whenever they come out, this is a known issue. Not sure when it'll be fixed but these types of things are very common as the video drivers and graphics card and LCD + other hardware try to process it without Vista thinking they aren't secure enough, or that the stream is not legal. This is one of the reasons I don't plan to upgrade to Vista anytime soon, it's not anyone's fault but the OS really, all the programs and programmers have to try to get around what it's trying to do...
