Question:
Printing through a pc
I'm thinking about getting a macbook. One issue I'm concerned about is how to be able to use my printer through it. Right now my printer's connected to my pc desktop and I don't plan on changing that. I have my current pc laptop connected wirelessly to my desktop so that I can print/exchange files etc.. Would a mac be able to connect with a pc like that?

Not sure about your question, but during the short time I had my macbook, all I had to do was plug in my printer to the macbook via usb, and it printed flawlessly. No software, no installs, just plug and play.

Yeah but I wouldn't be plugging the printer directly into the macbook. Like I said it's going to be connected to my pc. Right now, all my computers (all pcs) are connected wirelessly through my router and I can use my printer from either one of them. The thing I'm concerned about is if I were to get a macbook, would it be able to communicate the same way as my current pc laptop.

It SHOULD be able to, but don't quote me on that as I've never tried. I'm pretty sure that you can have it so people can print through your Macbook, but I'm not sure about your Macbook printing through someone else, although it wouldn't be very good if you could do something one way, and not the other.

What is the brand and model number? I had a hard time getting my Canon i860 to print in the same situation. I had to find the generic Canon driver in OS X that would work with it. I still don;t get things like ink status, but it prints fine.

I did it with an (old) Epson 440. It is shared on a WinXp machine. So in theory it works, but I must confess Apple Samba's is a rather clumsy implementation.
