SZ Question

SZ Question
I am planning on buying a SZ, but I am somewhat confused. I am buying through my school's student discount program and there are several SZ models, and I want to know the differences.
As of right now, I don't really see the benefit in buying the premium model (or at least enough of a benefit to validate the higher price tag) for my uses.
Down to the point. What is the difference in:
SZ440N13
SZ440N/B
SZ440N14
What does the "Nxx" stand for or mean on the SZ models?
Thanks for your help!

Re: SZ Question
Oh and also, if I just buy it with 1GB of RAM, will I easily be able to upgrade to 2GB, or should I just go ahead and buy it with the 2GB installed?
(We're talking about $150 price difference)

Re: SZ Question
Yes you can easily upgrade the ram and I'm not sure if you should get the 2 gb right now as I don't know the price.
The N really doesn't stand for anything, just that it has Vista I think.

Re: SZ Question
Check the spec on VAIO website then you'll know the difference. :P
In short, the higher the price, the faster / more you get. But stick with your own budget or to what you actually require for your work. I went for the SZ4MN/b as I needed a laptop for Wireless net and Word and Photoshop etc, which is adequate with the Duo2 + 2Gb RAM etc. :) No need for the "Premium" for me. And its' still light!!

Re: SZ Question
About the memory upgrading...
If you purchase the 1GB option, you will probably get 2 sticks of 512MB memory. To upgrade, you will have to replace those with 2 sticks of 1GB memory. It should still be cheaper to buy the 2 individual 1GB sticks though, but it's not as cheap as just buying one. Hope that helps.

Re: SZ Question
The "NXX" designation is only used, as far as I can tell, from re-sellers of VAIO laptops. The SZ440 label is for the customized SZ line --- if you go through the VAIO website, you can essentially "build" a computer, Dell-style, to your customized needs.
