Question:
WUXGA or WXGA
A thread like this has probably already been mentioned, but i want some more up-to-date answers if you guys dont mind. so what do you think? 1920x1400 or 1440x900 for my M9750. is there a big difference in games? enough to get the WUXGA? and cant i change the DPI to make it readable on the desktop screen...?
i saw a thread earlier of this BJX guy who highly regretted getting the 1920x1200, but that was on a 15.4" screen, is this the case for a 17"?
any first hand feedback would be very nice and i would highly appreciate it.

To see how text and everything would look on a Wuxga 17" screen look at 13.3 inch laptops with 1280x800 res, preferably 1440x900, that has the same DPI as the 17" Wuxga screen, thats my personal experience from switching from my VAIO (to my m9750), everything initially looks smaller because of the sheer size of the screen, personally I don't find it a problem, but thats because I've been staring at the VAIOs high dpi screen for a few years now...

If you're getting the SLI setup with the M9750 then definitely go with the WUXGA (in my opinion) because the dual video cards should have no problem powering most games at that resolution. You can see my M9750 review for benchmarks. If you get the WXGA+ resolution then there is really no point to getting dual video cards because one Go7950GTX can easily render that resolution.

First off I just want to make it clear to the poster that the resolution of WUXGA is 1920X1200 not 1400. I have the 1920X1200 resolution on mine with a single 7950 GTX card and it runs games beautifully. For instance, Oblivion on some of the highest specs without as much as a hiccup. Also, I have had no problems with text size or anything like that. I can read my icons on the desktop from 2 arm-lengths away. :) Lastly I just want to add that the WUXGA screen (I'm sure the WXGA one is the same) has great color quality and depth IMO. Hope this helps!

Like shoelace said i find the 1440 screen perfect for my needs. Whether you have 1 or 2 graphic cards it will handle the resolution well. It is truly up to your preference if you want to spend the 300 dollar upgrade for the higher resolution.
For me the 1440 resolution has been great and i don't have any regrets. If you decide you will be needing alot of screen space for graphics, gaming (2x graphic cards), or True HD viewing than i would go for the higher resolution screen, but for me the 1440 is doing fine it handles every game well without lowering any resolution to adjust to games and it is enough screen space ( i dont need to have many things going on at the same time -.- i am sure you will be able to adjust to not having 2 internet browsers running side to side.

Darkshadow, actually I said that I think the 1440 would be nice as well but that I really like the 1920X1200 screen that I have... lol I'm sure you just misread it though so no worries. :)

I personally willl get the higher resolution. I am ALWAYS wishing I could fit more stuff (window space) side by side on my laptop which is a widescreen format at 1680 X 1050. Sometimes Im comparing web pages side by side and its so great to have more real estate.
