Cant Believe How Cheap New 8600/8500 Cards Are!!
Hi I was just checking out the prices for the new Nvidia 8500/8600 gpus and they are incredible cheap! The 8500GT which I know isnt too good a performer is only 91 euros! and the XFX 8600GT is only 151euro!! The 8600 GTS is a little dearer at 200euro but I think as it stand, the 8600GT is the best value for the budget buyer..

They don't seem particuarly cheap to me, nor exspensive.
they are priced how i would expect them to be.

I would'nt agree because the 7600 and 7600GT are still priced between 130 and 200euro and the 8600's are FAR better performers. in fact the high end 7600 GT comes in at the same price as the 8600GTS which has performance between a 7900 and a 7950GT.. Depending on what game is played..

The thing is, the 8600GT and 8600GTS are not suppose to replace the 7600GS and 7600GT. The 8600GTS which is officially priced between $199-$229 has trouble definitively beating a X1950PRO, which can be had for cheaper. You can even get the 7950GT for $229 or possibly lower and that would give better performance. The 8600GT is priced between $149-159 which is right where the 7900GS is priced now. I haven't seem enough 8500 benchmarks to really judge yet, but the 8600 series isn't exactly bad, but if it wasn't for DX10 support, I doubt many people would buy them over the previous generation.

the reason they are more expensive is because they DO support DX10 (and new archetecure) I have to admit tho, for nvidia release prices, these arnt bad.

So what. They're poor cards for the money. The GTS is pointless as its beaten easily by the fairly cheaper X1950Pro. And no point bringing Dx10 into it right now, as nothing uses it, and by the time it does, you'll most likely be wanting a new card anyway.
The 8500GT is also fairly poor, but the 8600GT is the only respectable option as a slightly more expensive option to the inferior 7600GT. On pretty much every forum the general opinion is that Nvidia have bombed badly with the 8500 and 8600 cards.

What are you talking about when you are saying the 8600 isnt suppose to replace the 7600??!! Of course it is! As did the 7600 replace the 6600!.. The 8600 is the midrange gpu as the 8800 is the high end one and thats it. And you cant compare an older GPU on price as its a previous generatin GPU that has become cheaper over time!.. The 1950pro was more expensive when it came out and the 8600 will get cheaper just as the 1950pro did!.. All the previous generation cards have gotten their prices slashed over the past months so its simply unfair to compare them with a new product which will always be dearer on its release!
Taking it this simply... The new midrange Nvidia cards that have been released have been put onto the market at very competitive prices, wiping the floor with their pervious generation counterparts which are still priced very high in comparison.. (7600's) They are new generation cards whatever way you put it and it is totally UNFAIR to compare theyre prices to Previous High end GPU's that have just had their prices slashed and were WAY more expensive when they came out!
Now i agree that for some1 wanting to spend 200+, a higher end "older" card such as a X1950/7950gt may be a better option.. BUT if you want to compare old with new "replacement" such as 7600GS/GT with 8600GT it is great that people who have around 150-170 to spend can buy an 8600 for almost the same money as the 7600.. I think, however as some1 stated, it is pointless AT THE MOMENT to go for the 8600GTS as you can get a high end ATI/Nvidia card for the same money that performs better, but that is just for now.. as im sure the price of the NEWLY released 8600GTS will drop dramatically very soon.

AND there is NO WAY you can call the 8600 GT a poor card for the money!!! It destroys every other card around the same price point!
The only one that is poor is the 8600GTS which i think is a pointless buy at its price and the only way i would get one was if its price was to drop which is very likely to happen fairly soon
