RAM Upgrade

Question:
RAM Upgrade
What do you guys recommend, I have a Dell E1505? I would like to get another gig of RAM, what is compatible with what I have and would work the best (good price too)? Help is really appreciated. I can answer questions if needed. My specs are below.
EDIT: Here's the exact config for my RAM:
Memory 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm

Re: RAM Upgrade
If you want to upgrade to something like 2 GB, then you will need to modules of 1 GB density. Therefore, you will have to take out the two 512 MB modules you hav at the moment.
I think that the E1505 is compatible with either 533 or 667 MHz, however, the difference in performance is soo little, theres little point to take one over the other. Take which ever is cheaper.
Brands tend to matter about the same. Corsair, OCZ, Kingston and other reputable brands will sell memory which is very good, reliable and is priced quite well.

Would both of these work?

If they both would work, which would be better for my system?

Re: RAM Upgrade
Either of the memory you have linked will work, however, the density of them are 512 MB. You want two modules of 1 GB density each. That makes a total of 2 GB.
You have two upgrades you can possibly do. One is stated above, and the other is to purchase one module with a density of 1 GB, and add that. Then you will have 1.5 GB in your notebook, and a spare module of 512 MB density.

With the first option you mentioned I would have to remove something right? I would like to avoid that, so what would I have to do to get the most without removing anything? Simply buy a 512 MB to get me to 1.5 GB's?

Re: RAM Upgrade
Without removing, you cannot upgrade the memory. At the moment you have two modules of 512 MB. Your notebook has two slots for memory.
So, with the modules you have now, you cannot upgrade any further. Removing and replacing memory modules is very simple. It is nothing to complicated to do. So, you have two choices.
1) You can remove one module you have now, and replace it with another, that is 1 GB in density. This will give you a total of 1.5 GB in the notebook.
2) Remove both modules you have now, and replace with two modules, each that have 1 GB density. This will give you a total of 2 GB in the notebook.
Hope this helps.

Re: RAM Upgrade
In order to upgrade, you must remove at least one of the 2 memory modules. There isn't any other way. There are only 2 memory slots on your notebook.

Re: RAM Upgrade
inter8148... a Dell E1505/I6400 have 2 "spaces" for RAM to be put in to. You currently have 2 Dimm's equalling to 1gb, which will probably be two 512mb RAM modules combined together. This means that all your RAM slots are currently full. To get to 2gb which you want, you will need to take out both RAM Dimm's currently in your laptop and purchase two 1gb RAM sticks.

Re: RAM Upgrade
IMO 160 dollars is a lot for RAM. Look at newegg you will find better prices. I am looking to do the same upgrade on my laptop, an HP dv6000t. I was thinking of buying one of these.
I'm just not sure which to buy, anyone have a recommendation?
