How do I keep my internal IP address hidden?
I was at a site (www.auditmypc.com) and it mentioned that it could read my internal IP address as well as external. I thought my internal was always hidden...how do I make sure that it is? THanks.
Answer:
Any page that has Java or ActiveX controls can get your local or "internal" IP address. They are actually running a little mini-program on your PC that is just getting your local network information. There really isn't any way to stop it other than to not allow java and activex to run. The real question in my mind is why you care? There really isn't any risk to you by someone having your local address. It isn't as if they can bypass your router and go directly to your internal address.
